Intensive interest in Çelebi's "get-acquainted" meeting in Budapest

At a personnel "get-acquainted" meeting held at Çelebi Ground Handling Hungary, Çelebi spokesmen told the Company's personnel that ÇGH felt great pleasure for having brought the Budapest Airport's ground handling services company, namely the Budapest Airport Handling under the Çelebi umbrella, and they welcomed them all as new members of the Çelebi family.

An audiovisual presentation made at the meeting introduced the Çelebi Group and provided information about the Group's mission, human resources policies, and employee-focus as well as about the Group's future plans in Budapest. Speaking at the meeting, which attracted considerable interest, Mr. Can Çelebioğlu talked about the Company's strategies and national and international objectives while also underscoring the importance of employees and teamwork.

Emphasizing that Çelebi had become an even stronger family with the addition of its new members, it was pointed out that foremost among the reasons why Çelebi enjoyed such a strong and special position throughout Turkey was the fact that ÇGH stations served flights at airports through which 90% of the country's civil aviation traffic and 99% of passenger traffic flow, and that for ÇGH the highest priority is the Çelebi employees, for they are the ones who ensure that the first step of every safe flight is taken on the ground.

Çelebi Ground Handling's service quality receives international recognition

To ensure the continued validity of the ISO 9001-2000 Quality Management System Certification to which it became entitled at six of its stations in 2003, Çelebi Ground Handling is to undergo a "Certification Renewal Audit" once every three years. Last audit took place at ÇGH headquarter units and at the stations on 17-28 July 2006. As a result of this audit, the ISO 9001:2002 Certification granted for those six stations was extended to encompass all units, thus officially certifying that Çelebi Ground Handling service quality is now fully operational at all of its stations.

Çelebi Ground Handling's stations (Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Bodrum, Çorlu, Dalaman, Diyarbakır, Erzurum, Gaziantep, İstanbul, İzmir, Kars, Kayseri, Malatya, Mardin, Samsun, Trabzon, and Van) are now providing services that fully complies with ISO 9001-2000 Quality Management System Certification.

At the press conference at which he announced the certification, Çelebi Ground Handling's Chief Executive Officer Samim Aydın also touched upon the historical importance of quality control and cited an excerpt from the Code of Hammurabi (1760 BCE): "If a builder builds a house and… the house falls in, killing the owner, the builder will be killed."

Noting that institutional quality is a product of the individual quality of the people working for it, Aydın said that generally held opinion about Çelebi is that it is a company, which embraces the logic of superior quality from the standpoint both of its employees and of its overall outlook. Speaking on the same occasion, Vice Chairperson Canan Çelebioğlu Tokgöz, said that Çelebi Ground Handling's being awarded its ISO 9001-2000 Certification was the result of all of the Company's employees identifying with the concept of total quality. She also noted that in addition to this certification, Çelebi Ground Handling had also received the Ramp Security Award at the Ground Handling International Conference held in Monte Carlo in November. Adding that this was also a source of great happiness to the Company, she said 'These awards were the fruit of the efforts made and of the carefulness exercised in order to achieve perfection in service' and that 'They showed that the Company stood on the summit in this respect'.

The 8th Ground Handling International Conference was held in Monte Carlo on 27-28 November. At the Conference, Çelebi Ground Handling was the recipient of the "Ramp Safety" Award in the Middle East-Africa region. A Çelebi foreman loader noticed that a fuel tanker serving one of the aircraft being serviced by Çelebi Ground Handling had encroached upon the neighboring parking position because it had incorrectly drawn up alongside. The award, which was presented to Çelebi Ground Handling CEO Samim Aydın at Monte Carlo, was later turned over to the head manager of the Antalya Station, Taner Sarı. The theme of this year's GHI Conference was "Product and Price: too hard to handle?". In the course of two days, a wide variety of subjects were taken up such as budget-priced carriers and the impact that they have on traditional airlines, efforts to reduce ground handling services costs, and online reservations. Çelebi Ground Handling was a "gold" sponsor of the Conference, which was attended by representatives from airlines, ground handling services companies, and other important members of the aviation industry. Çelebi launches its "Service with a Smile" project

As a result of analysis of data obtained from such sources as routine in-house inspections and customer feedback, Çelebi's "Service with a Smile" Project was launched on a test-run basis at the İstanbul and Antalya Stations on August 15th. "Service with a Smile", a project proposed by the İstanbul Station Passenger Services Department with the support of all other stations, is based on "seven basic principles" that have been identified concerning the high-quality service that Çelebi seeks to provide.

The primary goal of the project is to adopt a participatory and positive attitude in matters involving individuals' private and business lives, and to encourage Çelebi personnel to provide high-quality personalized service while rewarding them for doing so. In addition to İstanbul and Antalya, the project also encompasses the Adana, Ankara, Bodrum, Dalaman, İzmir, and Trabzon Stations as well. Its coverage will be extended to include all stations in the coming season. The principles of the "Service with a Smile" project, whose point of departure is the message "Everything begins with you!", were formulated taking into account the great contribution that first impressions make about a company's image and the important responsibilities that are involved in this. In this view, the way that all Passenger Services employees who have confidence in themselves and personally identify with the quality of the service they provide is the showcase of overall Çelebi Ground Handling service quality.

Latest innovations in Çelebi Ground Handling cleaning services

As of August, Çelebi Ground Handling introduced a number of important innovations in its cleaning services. Cleaning materials and equipment that are safe from the standpoints of environmental and worker health, and that are recognized by aircraft manufacturers were identified and standardized in all Celebi stations. As the source of all the materials and equipment to be used in aircraft cleaning, the firm of Euro Chem was chosen. This company possesses all the certification that is required of suppliers in line with regulations and aircraft manufacturers recommendations such as Ministry of Health production licenses and production competency licenses from the Turkish Standards Institute. ZI Chemicals' Zi 400 aircraft cleaning compound is completely non-toxic and non-hazardous, and can be used safely on all aircraft surfaces other than in cabin toilets. Compound dispensers installed in nine ÇGH stations the supplier automatically dilute the mixture while in the remaining stations, the compound is stored in opaque drums and manually diluted with the use of measuring equipment. An important feature of the cleaning fluids used in aviation is that they be non-corrosive. Zi 400 has not only proven itself in the industry but has the added advantage of preventing corrosion as well. Zi 400 is approved by Boeing, Douglas & AMS, and Airbus for use in the cleaning of all aircraft interior and exterior surfaces other than cabin toilets and can also be used safely on ground support equipment as well. Cleaning crew personnel have been given training in the technical features of Zi 400 and in its use, which is now standardized in all Çelebi Ground Handling stations.
